Karlsruhe district - Truck drives into accident site
A truck crashed into the scene of an accident on the Autobahn 5 near Bruchsal ( Karlsruhe district) on Friday morning. According to police reports, two police officers were only just able to save themselves by jumping to the side. The officers and two truck drivers were taken to hospital with minor injuries, according to a police spokesman. At midday on Friday, the police expected the southbound carriageway to be closed until the early evening hours. At times, a traffic jam formed as far as the Walldorf interchange.
The accident occurred during the recording of another accident between two trucks. These had stopped on the hard shoulder after a collision. The police officers were securing the scene of the accident when a third truck apparently hit the patrol car and one of the trucks due to carelessness, according to reports.
One of the truck drivers was reportedly injured in the previous accident. The truck driver who later crashed into the scene of the accident was also injured. The damage caused by the two accidents was estimated at a mid-six-figure sum. As a result of the collision caused by the third truck, loads and vehicle parts spilled onto the road. Recovery and reloading were still ongoing in the afternoon.
