Late at night on Thursday, a woman truck driver, highly intoxicated, caused chaos on the A7 highway in Hesse's eastern region. She drove her 40-ton truck erratically, weaving off the road repeatedly and flouting the safe distance laws significantly. She paid no heed to the repeated flashing lights and police sirens to stop, according to the authorities.

Police received a call on Wednesday at around 11:00 pm about the hazardous driving. When officers asked the truck driver to halt, she finally complied, halting her vehicle in Burghaun, Fulda district. Following a breathalyzer test, the 57-year-old woman had a blood alcohol level of 2.3 per mille, and was not allowed to drive any further. The police promptly seized her driver's license. The authorities have launched an investigation into endangering road traffic and driving under the influence.
