Truck breaks through crash barrier and blocks oncoming lane
A truck has broken through the crash barrier on the Autobahn 9 near Ingolstadt and blocked the entire oncoming lane. The 26-year-old driver was seriously injured in the accident on Tuesday near Manching (district of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm), trapped and only freed after several hours, according to the police. The man was taken to hospital by helicopter.
His truck remained on its side across the lanes in the direction of Munich. The police expected the A9 southbound to remain closed for several hours in the late morning. The cause of the accident initially remained unclear, according to reports.
The traffic on the A9 was significantly affected due to the truck accident, as emergency services worked to clear the blocked lane in Upper Bavaria. Unfortunately, several hours of delays and rerouting were a result of the serious traffic accidents involving the truck.
