Three days following a major truck collision on the A24, the thoroughfare shut down again heading to Berlin on Monday. The disruption at the Hornbek intersection was set to last for two hours (from 11:00 am), as per the Autobahn GmbH Nord. A nearby bypass was labeled. After over 30 hours of complete closure in the direction of Berlin, the A24 reopened on Sunday morning with just one lane.
On Friday afternoon, between Hornbek and Gudow, near the boundary of Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, three transport trucks ignited. One driver sustained minor injuries. Law enforcers reported that it was a rear-end crash that took place when a truck carrying meat had a flat tire.
