Accident - Truck and train collide - Black Forest Railway closed

After a collision with a train at a level crossing in Gutach (Ortenaukreis), a truck driver had to be taken to a clinic for investigation. No one was injured in the train, according to the police.

According to their findings, the 49-year-old truck driver had driven into a road closed for longer vehicles and then, despite the red lights, onto the level crossing. The locomotive driver of an approaching local train could not prevent a collision. Damages amounted to over 100,000 Euro.

The cleanup work could last until the evening, according to the police. The Schwarzwaldbahn track was closed. According to a spokesperson for the railway, the affected section is between Hausach and Hornberg, resulting in delays and partial cancellations. Trains from the direction of Offenburg end in Hausach. Between Hausach and Triberg, buses are running as a replacement, and from Triberg to Villingen there is already a rail replacement service due to construction work.

The accident at the level crossing in Gutach (Ortenaukreis) involved a truck and a train, and it occurred due to the truck driver ignoring the closed road for larger vehicles and the red lights at the crossing. In a similar incident in Baden-Württemberg, several accidents have been reported recently, highlighting the need for increased safety measures at such locations. The police are currently evaluating whether charges will be pressed against the truck driver.
