Regional Court in Mannheim decides case - Trial underway for suspect in expensive jewelry heist case
A 39-year-old individual is currently facing the Mannheim District Court over charges of stealing jewellery worth approximately €994,500. According to a court representative, this case has been ongoing since Wednesday. The man is alleged to have robbed a jewellery store in Mannheim with four unidentified accomplices back in October 2023. It was previously reported that the group forced their way in using smoke bombs and firecrackers, making it hard to see what was happening.
The stolen items, which included gold bracelets, chains, and earrings, were not completely secure. The accused was arrested in connection with the crime back in October and has been held in detention since then. The court has charged him with theft using a weapon, which could lead to a sentence of up to ten years in prison. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.
Further hearings have been scheduled for this trial. The verdict is expected to be handed down in mid-June.
