Six months after fatal shootings in Ranschbach (Southern Wine Route), the trial against the 28-year-old defendant began in Landau. Two witnesses were present at the start, as announced by a spokesperson for the regional court. The charge is manslaughter. According to the prosecution, the defendant, who is of Syrian origin, obtained a revolver for unknown reasons and fired several shots at a 37-year-old man on February 12. The victim died from his head and abdominal injuries. Earlier investigations suggest that the defendant encountered the man as he was heading to his car. Several trial dates are scheduled until the end of October.

During the trial, the prosecution highlighted the defendant's acquisition of a revolver, which subsequently became a weapon of crime. The revolver was used in the shooting incident that led to the 37-year-old man's fatal injuries.
