- Trial on charges of double murder in Magdeburg

Trial begins at the Regional Court of Magdeburg on Tuesday against a young man accused of murdering his mother and a younger brother. At the time, the then 18-year-old was also alleged to have attempted to kill his three other siblings, the Regional Court announced. According to the indictment, the act was driven by a growing feeling of not having enough privacy in the apartment shared with his siblings and mother.

The young man is accused of repeatedly stabbing his partly sleeping siblings and the 42-year-old mother with a kitchen knife in March. The suspect and the victims have a Azerbaijani background and hold both Turkish and Russian citizenship, according to police.

The regional court appointed police officers to provide security during the trial due to the serious nature of the crimes. Despite the suspect's attempts to kill his siblings, fortunately, they survived the attack.
