At a trial in Göttingen centering around a lethal incident, the indictment was presented. The accused is charged with exceeding the speed limit substantially, set to appear at the Göttingen Regional Court as per the court's statement. Born in '98, the defendant is alleged to have been clocking in at 120 kilometers per hour on a stretch where the speed limit typically stands at 50 kilometers per hour. The case against him involves charges of illegal street racing resulting in fatality. On October 1, 2023, at an early hour, a 31-year-old man met his end in the accident. Court sessions have been scheduled to extend until September. Initial testimonies were heard, including that of another accident victim who was injured slightly at the time.

As per the accusations, the defendant was reportedly driving excessively fast, under the influence of alcohol, on the Göttingen city center's inner ring road. Losing control over his vehicle, he swerved onto the opposing lane, colliding head-on with the victim's car. Additionally, both cars also struck the car of the lightly injured party. The 31-year-old passed away a few hours later due to his injuries.

The case against the defendent escalated to charges of criminal street racing, resulting in a fatality. The incident led to increased discussions about the city's crime rates and traffic safety measures.
