Regional Court of Frankenthal - Trial commences: Alleged betrayal leads to stabbing
A 25-year-old woman stands accused of fatally stabbing her partner with a kitchen knife and now faces trial in the Frankenthal district court. The proceedings for manslaughter began as planned on Tuesday, with trial dates scheduled until August's end, revealed a justice spokesperson.
Originally from Neustadt/Weinstraße, the defendant has a criminal history and is currently held in pre-trial detention. During her arrest, she confessed to the charges, claiming her partner physically assaulted her the day prior to the incident, reports the prosecution. Since then, the woman has exercised her right to silence.
The alleged crime took place on January 2nd. Prosecutors claim the woman used a kitchen knife to stab her partner in the back during an intense altercation in their shared apartment. After the assault, the man managed to escape to his mother's nearby residence, but ultimately succumbed to his wounds while on his way to the hospital.
