Hamburg - Trial against masseur for sexual assault
A trial against a 37-year-old masseur for sexual assault and rape began at Hamburg District Court on Tuesday. According to the indictment, the man is alleged to have performed sexual acts on a total of five women during full-body massages as an employed masseur in a wellness facility, as a press spokesperson announced. He allegedly took advantage of the fact that the women were not expecting sexual contact during the massages and were unable to defend themselves against the acts. The acts are alleged to have taken place between October 2020 and June 2023 at two different locations of the facility in Neustadt and Alstertal.
The indictment accuses the 37-year-old of three counts of sexual assault and two counts of rape. At the beginning of the trial, the accused did not want to make a statement, but his defense attorney held out the prospect of a statement at a later date. If the 37-year-old is convicted, he faces a prison sentence of between 2 and 15 years. A total of nine trial days have been scheduled until February 12, 2024.
