Public prosecutor's office - Trial against life coach: hostage-taking and rape
A 38-year-old man is to stand trial at Mosbach District Court from January onwards for allegedly taking several women hostage and raping them as a self-appointed life coach. This was announced by the court on Tuesday. The public prosecutor's office is accusing the accused of hostage-taking, aggravated rape and grievous bodily harm.
The man is said to have posed as a so-called life coach for more than three years. He is said to have contacted young women through his counseling services and systematically made them feel insecure. According to the indictment, he invited the women to his house in Walldürn (Neckar-Odenwald district) for a kind of personal development training camp, where he used verbal humiliation and violence to break their resistance and repeatedly sexually abused them.
The man is said to have repeatedly sexually abused and physically assaulted seven women. He is said to have taken three of the women hostage at times. He is also accused of physically abusing a further two women, a child and three men. In October last year, one of the victims managed to make an emergency call. This is how the case came to light.
The trial begins on January 11. A further 16 hearings are scheduled until April.
The 38-year-old and his 24-year-old brother were arrested just over a year ago. The proceedings against the brother, who is also on trial, were severed. The trial dates against him have not yet been set. The 24-year-old is accused of aiding and abetting hostage-taking and aggravated rape, among other things. He is also alleged to have raped and injured women himself.
