Ex-national player in court - Trial against Jérôme Boateng continues
The process against football professional Jerome Boateng continues. Before the Munich I Regional Court, his ex-girlfriend's examination is set to be continued. She accuses the 35-year-old of assault, allegedly attacking her during a Caribbean vacation a year ago.
She states that he threw a windsurfing sail and a cool box at her. Later, he spat at her, pulled her hair, slapped her in the face with both hands, and bit her on the head.
"I cried, really hard, I was also shocked," said the woman, who claims she hasn't seen her children, who live with Boateng, for two years. "He continued to scream, continued to threaten."
She cut herself on the shards of the broken windsurfing sail, suffered hematomas and abrasions. He threatened her, saying he would ensure that their common children would go to an orphanage if she reported the incident.
Boateng denies the allegations. He states that he only defended himself against an attack by his former partner and pushed her away. For this pushing, he apologized. In his lengthy statement before the court, he spoke of a "nightmare" and denied violence allegations.
The court has scheduled two additional hearing dates, according to a court spokesperson. This means the verdict could fall on August 12. Originally, July 19 was supposed to be the last hearing date. Whether these new dates are actually necessary was initially unclear.
