Trial against 18-year-old for murder of flower seller

The penal code and files are on the table in court.

Trial against 18-year-old for murder of flower seller

The trial against an 18-year-old for the murder of a flower seller in Upper Franconia will be heard by the Coburg Regional Court from January. A court spokesman said on Friday that the court had fully admitted the prosecution's indictment. The "Fränkischer Tag" had reported first.

Six further dates are planned for the trial from January 16, 2024 until the end of January. Due to the age of the accused at the time of the crime, the trial will be held in camera, the spokesperson said.

The then 17-year-old teenager allegedly killed the 50-year-old woman with a knife in a flower store in Lichtenfels in March of this year. Passers-by discovered the woman's body after noticing that around 9 p.m., well after closing time, everything was still set up outside and the front door was unlocked. Police officers arrested the suspect a good two weeks after the crime.

In April, a good three weeks after the arrest of the German, investigators found the suspected murder weapon. During a search "in the suspect's home environment", investigators discovered a knife which, according to initial findings, was used in the violent crime. The investigators also discovered DNA traces at the crime scene that matched the suspect.

Even after the indictment, the public prosecutor's office did not provide any details - referring to the fact that the accused was a minor at the time of the crime and therefore special legal regulations apply.

The trial's processes in Upper France for the 18-year-old accused of murdering a flower seller involve six scheduled court dates, starting from January 16, 2024. Due to the minor age of the accused during the crime, the court proceedings will be conducted in secrecy.
