Trial about sex in a church

A trial about sex in a church began at Traunstein District Court on Wednesday. According to the public prosecutor's office, the 39-year-old defendant allegedly had sexual intercourse with a woman near the altar of the Catholic church in Schechen last summer, which he documented with photos.

Among other things, the Rosenheim-born man is accused of disturbing the practice of religion. In a place dedicated to the worship of a religious community, he committed "insulting mischief", according to the indictment.

However, this is just one accusation among many others. The 39-year-old is also charged with assault, deprivation of liberty, threats and fraud. The public prosecutor's office also accuses him of domestic violence. He is said to have repeatedly attacked, beaten and insulted his wife. However, according to a court spokeswoman, the wife refused to testify.

The court has scheduled six trial days for the trial, and the verdict could therefore be handed down on December 13.

The alleged actions of the defendant significantly impacted the religious processes within the community, as his actions are charged as disturbing the practice of religion. Despite the multiple charges against him, including crime-related ones like assault, deprivation of liberty, threats, and fraud, as well as domestic violence, the practice of religion seems to be a particular focus of the ongoing trial.
