Trend sport padel tennis and mental fitness: Ispo begins
Padel tennis, mental fitness, everything to do with bicycles - that's what this year's Ispo sporting goods fair is all about. This year's three-day show has the motto "New Perspectives on Sports" and starts on Tuesday (28.11.) at the trade fair grounds in Munich. From lectures and sports articles to digital sports games, everything will revolve around sport.
Above all, topics relating to physical and mental fitness as well as health-oriented nutrition are currently very important to consumers and are in huge demand, Christoph Beaufils, brand strategist at Ispo, told the German Press Agency. Good sleep and regeneration are also huge trend topics.
Padel tennis - a mixture of tennis and squash - is one of the biggest sports trends to be seen at this year's sports fair, said Beaufils. But tennis is also experiencing a comeback this year and the bicycle continues to be a trending topic. "The bike has experienced a boom during Corona and the topic of the mobility transition is also making a big contribution to this," he said.
Beaufils has also observed that many brands from the cycling or action sports sector are mingling with the classic outdoor clothing brands. One of the reasons for this is multifunctionality. In addition, clothing has now become so fashionable that it can also be worn in everyday life.
Ispo is taking place for the 53rd time this year. More than 2000 exhibitors are taking part and 50,000 visitors are expected. In 2022, the number of exhibitors was 1500. Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel and national basketball coach Gordon Herbert are expected as special guests.
The first Ispo trade fair was held in 1970. "The driving force back then was equipment in all its facets. From around 1979, it was mainly racket sports," says Beaufils. Racket sports are understood to mean racket games. "And now with padel, it's a topic that's getting bigger."
