Transfer dispute with Ljubljana: 1 FC Köln files criminal complaint
In the transfer dispute with Olimpija Ljubljana, 1. FC Köln has filed criminal charges against three representatives of the Slovenian soccer club for attempted fraud. The Cologne public prosecutor's office has confirmed the initial suspicion and initiated criminal investigation proceedings against the three representatives, the Bundesliga club announced on Tuesday.
FC had been sentenced to a transfer ban of two transfer periods by FIFA in connection with the allegation of incitement to breach of contract in connection with the transfer of Slovenian youth international Jaka Cuber Potocnik (18) to Cologne on a free transfer in January 2022. However, the International Court of Arbitration for Sport Cas suspended the ban. A final ruling has not yet been issued. Ljubljana is also demanding compensation from the Rhinelanders.
Cologne accuse the three Olimpija representatives who testified at the Cas of being involved in contradictions and of having refuted parts of the facts presented by Ljubljana in writing.
The FC press release from Tuesday states: "FC Köln is convinced that this and other statements from witnesses named by FC have proven that NK Olimpija Ljubljana is attempting to obtain an unjustified amount of compensation on the basis of false facts."
