Transatlantic race: Herrmann draws a positive balance
Boris Herrmann draws a positive balance shortly before the expected Imoca final in the 16th Transat Jacques Vabre. "We are enjoying fantastic sailing on course for Martinique," said the 42-year-old from Hamburg at an online press conference held by See on Friday afternoon. The five-time circumnavigator's most important insight: "I am very relieved that we can keep up with the other newbuilds. I was a little worried about that. What we are experiencing here is very promising for the Vendée Globe."
Herrmann will start his second solo race around the world on November 10, 2024. Until then, the "Malizia - Seaexplorer" will be further optimized after intensive experience in The Ocean Race. Herrmann has no regrets that his team, along with the majority of the field, opted for the longer but less stormy southern route in more pleasant trade winds: "We wanted a good race and to compare ourselves with the others." Team Malizia was in sixth place on the eleventh day of the race. Herrmann expects to cross the finish line on Sunday evening German time.
Boris Herrmann's team is currently sailing well on the 16th Transat Jacques Vabre, maintaining a strong position alongside the other newbuilds. The 16th Transat Jacques Vabre, where Herrmann is competing, is a challenging Transatlantic race.
