Anhalt-Bitterfeld - Trainees manage customer service in new junior station
At the new junior station in Köthen, trainees will in future operate Deutsche Bahn's customer service independently. Trainees in their first to third year of training will be available to answer passengers' questions about timetables, tracks, the mobility service and the city, a Deutsche Bahn spokesperson explained after the opening on Thursday. The new recruits will also be able to organize their own duty roster. However, the regular DB travel center will continue to be responsible for ticket sales.
The junior station complements the practical part of the dual training system for future transport service employees. Instead of just working alongside more experienced colleagues, the trainees can also take on responsibility themselves and apply the basic theoretical knowledge from vocational school and DB training in practice.
