Rems-Murr district - Train runs over drunk man: he remains unharmed
After falling onto the track bed at Backnang station, a drunken 37-year-old man was run over by a train and remained uninjured. As the man was lying between the rails, he was able to be brought back to the platform unharmed by railroad employees, the police announced on Monday.
The 37-year-old is said to have been standing on the platform on Saturday morning with a blood alcohol level of 1.6 per mille and fell onto the tracks by himself at around 05:00. Due to his dark clothing, he had not been seen by anyone for half an hour, according to previous knowledge. It was only when a regional train approached that its driver spotted the 37-year-old in the headlights of his train. Although he braked his train immediately, he was unable to bring the train to a halt in front of the man. The drunk man was treated and taken home.
