Paths harmed or impaired - Train rerouting from Hanover to Hamburg
Because of the damage caused by heavy rain, Deutsche Bahn's long-distance trains between Hannover and Hamburg will be detoured on Friday. As a Deutsche Bahn spokesperson explained, "The tracks between Eschede and Unterlüß have been damaged by the heavy rain. Consequently, trains will travel non-stop between Hamburg and Hannover via Rotenburg." This adjustment is expected to add around 20 minutes to the journey time.
Regional trains operated by Metronom experienced slower travel on a 2.6-kilometer stretch due to the disturbance, causing the trains to be down by almost 20 minutes as well. According to the same spokesperson, "Assessments of the damages are being made, and they will be fixed as soon as possible."
On Friday morning, a fallen tree across an overhead power line in Uelzen brought disruption to the train traffic between Hannover and Hamburg. The track was partially closed, but the disruption was cleared up later that morning, according to the spokesperson.
