Train manufacturer Stadler inaugurates new logistics center

Train manufacturer Stadler has expanded its site in Berlin. The Swiss company inaugurated a new logistics center for rail transport on its premises in Berlin-Pankow on Tuesday. Berlin's Governing Mayor Kai Wegner (CDU) and Senator for Economic Affairs Franziska Giffey (SPD) also attended the opening ceremony.

In addition to storage and logistics space, the new area also offers the opportunity to prepare various rail vehicle upgrades there, the company announced on Tuesday. "With the punctual completion, Stadler is completing the new construction and expansion of the plant site in Berlin, which began in 2019," it said.

According to Stadler, the company employs around 1500 people in Berlin. Trains of all kinds are manufactured there for the German market as well as trams and light rail vehicles for other countries. Among other things, the company has produced the new Berlin S-Bahn trains, which are mainly used on the Ringbahn.

The new subway train series for Berlin's public transport company also comes from Stadler. However, the company recently had to announce further delays in delivery. According to the company, this is due to problems with the international supply chains that have been ongoing for months. The first test vehicles were actually due to be available in 2022.

The new logistics center is a significant addition to the Railroad Industry construction at Stadler's site in Berlin-Pankow. This expansion will not only provide ample storage and logistics space but also allow for the preparation of various rail vehicle upgrades within the company.
