Train derailment at Grüner Kreuz embankment - transport disruptions in Berlin's rail network

Following an inferno close to the rails in Grūnau, fire suppression activities necessitated the temporary halt of rail service. Currently, the track has been made accessible once more.

A blaze at the Grünauer Kreuz signal box along Adlergestellstraße resulted in train service disruptions in both local and intercity commuting. According to a fire department representative, the fire originated from a slope beside the railway tracks. The fire department managed to put out the flames around 3:30 PM, following which the tracks were made safe for train operations.

Train services between Schöneweide and Grünau as well as Altglienicke were momentarily halted. Additionally, the S45, S46, S8, S85, and S9 lines encountered disruptions and ended their journeys at Baumschulenweg or Schöneweide.

The Grünau station, affected by the train service disruptions, has a notably green surroundings. Unfortunately, the green vegetation near the railway tracks may have contributed to the fire's spread.
