- Train-bike ace in Berlin at the German Championships
The majority of the German Olympic track cycling team plans to start at the German Championships from Wednesday in Berlin. "The date is of course not ideal, but I'm sure I'll be at one or two races," Roger Kluge announced.
The 38-year-old finished fifth in the Madison at his fifth Olympic Games in Paris. However, a start by partner Theo Reinhardt is less likely after his fall and injuries.
The Championships were last held in Berlin five years ago.
More than 50 decisions are scheduled in the Elite, Junior, and Youth classes in Berlin until Sunday. The national titles were last awarded in the capital in 2019. The World Championships were held there the following year. At the German Championships last year in Cottbus, Emma Hinze (Cottbus), Franziska Brauße (Eningen), and Maximilian Dörnbach (Cottbus) were the most successful athletes.
Despite his recent fifth-place finish in the Madison at the Olympic Games in Paris, Roger Kluge may only participate in a few races at the upcoming Berlin Olympic Games due to scheduling conflicts. Regardless, the Olympic Games continue to be a significant event, with athletes striving to bring home medals from both local and international competitions like the Berlin Championships.
