Following a gruesome crash involving a compact vehicle and a truck in Verden's district, the hospital regrettably announced the demise of the severely injured passenger. As a consequence, the fatalities from the incident now stand at two, according to the police's report.
On Tuesday morning, a 55-year-old man operating a compact vehicle on state road 154 between Ottersberg and Quelkhorn swerved into the opposite lane and collided with a truck. The impact sent the compact vehicle back, which then struck the vehicle following it. The 55-year-old man behind the wheel of the compact vehicle expired on the spot, while his 46-year-old wife and passenger was extracted from the wreckage and flown to the hospital with critical injuries.
The driver of the truck and the other involved motorist experienced shock. The police estimated the damage to property at approximately 35,000 euros. The reason behind the compact vehicle driver's lane change remains unclear.
