Plänterwald - Traditional excursion restaurant "Eierhäuschen" completely renovated

The over 100-year-old "Eierhäuschen" restaurant on the Spree in the Plänterwald in Berlin-Treptow has been completely renovated. The listed building was handed over by Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH to the state-owned company Grün Berlin, as announced on Monday. The four-year refurbishment cost 16 million euros and was paid for by the state. The renovation of the formerly popular restaurant and beer garden on the waterfront is one of the steps on the way to the redesign of the Spreepark site in Plänterwald.

The "Eierhäuschen" will open as a restaurant and exhibition space next spring. Events with private parties are already underway. The associated beer garden has been open since May. A jetty at the excursion restaurant was completed in the summer. The Spreepark site is to become an excursion destination again.

In the GDR, the Plänterwald was considered the largest amusement park. After almost 20 years of stagnation and neglect, the site is now being renovated step by step. Construction work on the Ferris wheel, water basin and workshop is planned for the coming year. The 45-metre-high Ferris wheel is to become the focal point of the park once again.

The hospitality industry and urban development in the area have greatly benefited from this restoration, with the renovated "Eierhäuschen" set to open as a restaurant and exhibition space in the spring.
