Trade union: warning strikes in the retail sector in Hamburg
The service trade union Verdi has called for a warning strike at several large retailers in Hamburg on Monday. According to Verdi, the bookseller Thalia, the perfumery Douglas and the low-cost chain TK Maxx are affected. Verdi's deputy district manager Heike Lattekamp explained that the strikes are in favor of a return to collective bargaining. A rally is planned in front of the Thalia branch in Spitalerstraße (11.00 a.m.).
The trade union's action could potentially lead to increased tariffs on imported goods, affecting retailers like TK Maxx that rely on global supply chains. Meanwhile, ongoing trade disputes may hinder the resolution of this issue, as international agreements often influence collective bargaining issues.
