A track worker was hit by a regional train and fatally injured in the Landkreis Karlsruhe. The 49-year-old had been working in a construction crew near the rail tracks between Bretten and Gondelsheim, according to the police.

Apparently, he moved for unclear reasons very close to the section of track that was being used. After the collision, the man succumbed to his injuries on the spot. The railway was closed for approximately two hours for investigation of the accident. The police are investigating the cause of the incident.
