Basketball Bundesliga - Towers basketball players take on Bayern in the Volkspark
The Bundesliga basketball team Veolia Towers Hamburg will celebrate its tenth birthday in the Barclays Arena in Volkspark. As the club announced on Thursday, the home game against FC Bayern Munich on March 24 next year will take place in Hamburg's largest sports hall.
The Towers started playing in the second division in the 2014/15 season. Hamburg have been playing in the Bundesliga since 2019. Coach Benka Barloschky's team is also playing in the EuroCup for the third time in a row this season.
However, the move to Volkspark remains an exception. The remaining home games will continue to take place at the venue in the Wilhelmsburg district. A Bundesliga clash with Bayern in the Barclays Arena was already planned for the 2020 premiere season, but could not take place due to the coronavirus pandemic.
