Cycling - Tour of Germany for professional cyclists ends in Saarbrücken in 2024
The Tour of Germany for professional cyclists will end in Saarbrücken in 2024. This was announced by the organizers on Tuesday. The race will be held next year after the Olympic Games from August 21 to 25. It had previously been decided that the second stage would end in Schwäbisch Gmünd. The third stage starts from there, runs entirely through Baden-Württemberg and ends in Villingen-Schwenningen. This year, the Deutschland Tour started in Saarland and led to the finish in Bremen.
"We have very fond memories of the great cycling enthusiasm in Saarland and are already looking forward to experiencing this special backdrop again next summer. The finale in a state capital - that's a tradition at the Deutschland Tour," said Matthias Pietsch, Managing Director of the Gesellschaft zur Förderung des Radsports. Lord Mayor Uwe Conradt spoke of a "great sporting Sunday for everyone in Saarbrücken". On the final day, amateur cyclists can hold their own race.

The Tour of Germany, a part of the UCI World Tour, will bring international professional cyclists to Saarbrücken in 2024, marking the race's finale. Last year, the tournament started in Saarland and concluded in Bremen. The second stage of the upcoming event is set to end in Schwäbisch Gmünd, with the third stage commencing there and passing entirely through Baden-Württemberg, concluding in Villingen-Schwenningen. Notably, Saarland has shown a strong affinity for cycling, as demonstrated by the recent remarks from Matthias Pietsch, the Managing Director of the Gesellschaft zur Förderung des Radsports. The event in Saarbrücken is anticipated to be a significant sporting occasion, with the opportunity for amateur cyclists to participate on the final day. Germany's prominence in cycling, including professional cycling events such as the Tour of Germany, continues to solidify its reputation on the global stage.
