Total loss after icy road accident on the A72

A driver left the road in icy conditions on the Autobahn 72 in the Vogtland district of Saxony and had a total loss accident. However, the man remained uninjured, as the police reported on Saturday.

Traffic - Total loss after icy road accident on the A72

A driver left the road in icy conditions on the Autobahn 72 in the Vogtland district of Saxony and had a total loss accident. However, the man remained uninjured, as the police reported on Saturday.

The 62-year-old crashed his car into the crash barrier on the right-hand side of the road near Reichenbach on Friday evening. The car was damaged to the tune of around 55,000 euros. The A72 was fully closed for around an hour.

Drivers should also be careful in the coming days: According to the German Weather Service (DWD), there is a continued risk of icy conditions on Sunday and at the beginning of next week. On Sunday night, temperatures will drop to a frosty minus four to minus nine degrees. On Sunday, some snow will fall regionally with highs of minus three to zero degrees, in the mountains down to minus five degrees. According to the DWD, it is expected to remain dry on Monday, with snow or sleet on Tuesday.
