Bundesliga - Toppmöller on the coaching job: "Desire to stay for a long time"

Eintracht Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmöller is enjoying his first head coach position in the Bundesliga. "It was definitely very challenging, but I also really enjoy it," said the 43-year-old former player after six months at the Hessian club ahead of the last game before the winter break against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Wednesday (20:30/Sky). "I like being here and I want to stay here for a long time."

Despite six defeats in their last seven games in all competitions, he believes the eighth-placed team are "on the right track, even if the latest results don't reflect it". One reason for this may be that the match against Gladbach will be the 27th competitive game since the start of the season. "One or two players are a bit overplayed, that's human," said Toppmöller.

In order to stay in contention for the European places, Frankfurt are still aiming for a win before Christmas. "It's important for us to go into the short winter break with a good feeling," he emphasized. "On the other side, of course, we have a good opponent. Nevertheless, our aim is to win."

After an illness and yellow card suspension, Omar Marmoush will return to the starting eleven. Ellyes Skhiri and Philipp Max are also candidates for the starting line-up again. Toppmöller is confident that defender Robin Koch will also be able to play. He had to be substituted early in the match at Bayer 04 Leverkusen (0:3).
