Medicine - Topping-out ceremony for new heart center at Chemnitz Hospital
The new Center for Cardiac Medicine at Chemnitz Hospital has reached another stage. The topping-out ceremony for the new building, which will cost around 64.2 million euros, was held on Thursday. Covering around 7,000 square meters, it will unite all areas from the normal ward to the day clinic to the intensive care unit under one roof and link them more closely, explained the Medical Director of the hospital, Ralf Steinmeier. This is in response to the increasing number of patients with cardiovascular diseases. Completion is planned for mid-2025.
Chemnitz Hospital is one of three maximum care hospitals in Saxony and, according to its own information, the third largest hospital in Germany under municipal ownership. Last year, it treated more than 56,000 inpatients and around 75,000 outpatients.
