"Too easy": Wolfsburg coach Kovac defends himself against criticism

VfL Wolfsburg coach Niko Kovac has defended himself against criticism of his line-up ahead of the home game against RB Leipzig. VfL have not won any of their last five games in the Bundesliga. Observers and apparently also players accuse the 52-year-old of changing personnel and tactics too often.

"There are phrases, clichés that are always the same. When things aren't going well, you pull out the drawers. That's too easy. Soccer is more than that," Kovac said on Friday. "I believe that we have a good team that is equally well staffed. That's why I don't see a problem with this rotation. It's all far too overcooked."

Before the international break, Wolfsburg lost 4-0 in Mönchengladbach. Afterwards, captain Maximilian Arnold said in an interview with the "Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung" on the subject: "If there are more frequent changes, there is naturally a certain dissatisfaction among some players. You notice that yourself, you want to perform, then mistakes happen. I do believe that there is a certain amount of uncertainty at the moment."

Despite this dissonance, Kovac clearly does not yet have to fear for his job at VfL. "We are convinced that we will be successful in this constellation," said sporting director Marcel Schäfer on Sky.

In the upcoming Bundesliga match against RB Leipzig, VfL Wolfsburg's coach, Niko Kovac, will be fielding his team, despite criticism for frequent changes. Despite the 0-4 loss to RB Leipzig in their last Bundesliga encounter, Kovac maintains that his team, including standout player VfL Wolfsburg, has the capability to perform well in their rotation strategies.
