Tons of cocaine: arrests for drug trafficking

They are said to have traded in tons of cocaine and crystal meth: The police have arrested a group of suspected major dealers in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony. Five suspects aged between 29 and 61 are being investigated, said a police spokeswoman in Recklinghausen on Friday.

They are said to have traded in tons of cocaine and crystal meth: The police have arrested a group of suspected major dealers in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony. Five suspects aged between 29 and 61 are being investigated, said a police spokeswoman in Recklinghausen on Friday.

The trail led investigators to the notorious city of Medellin in Colombia, where one of the suspects was arrested in cooperation with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Two suspects were arrested on Wednesday.

Another suspect was already in custody. A fourth suspect surrendered to police on Thursday. The suspects are accused of international drug trafficking and smuggling.

They are said to have organized the transport of drugs from Colombia to Europe by sea in sea containers using crypto messengers. In Europe, the drugs were then distributed to various countries and sold there.

Investigators, partly supported by special units, searched a total of six properties in Wuppertal and one in Wittingen(Lower Saxony). Cash, means of communication, a firearm and small quantities of drugs were seized.
