What are today's blue words in Connections?

The blue category is known to be the second-hardest. The theme for today's blue set is YOGA POSTURES, and the words are: CHAIR, MOUNTAIN, TREE, WARRIOR.

How I solved today's Connections puzzle

Two pop culture references in today's challenge: COCONUT/TREE and BRAT!

I detect a music genre category, with ROCK, FOLK, BLUES, and COUNTRY representing it. 🟨

BUN and UPDO are both hairstyles, but I haven't found any others.

WARRIOR and MOUNTAIN are both yoga poses. Are there any others? Yes, CHAIR and TREE. 🟦

I think I've identified a category of words that start with titles of Pixar movies: SOULMATE (Soul), COCONUT (Coco), WALLET (Wall-E), and UPDO (Up). 🟪

That leaves SAUERKRAUT, MUSTARD, BUN, and BRAT, which are all components of a hotdog/sausage situation. 🟩

How to play Connections

Check out my comprehensive guide to playing Connections, but here's a summary of the rules:

First, locate the Connections game either on the New York Times website or in their Games app (formerly the Crossword app). You'll see a game board with 16 tiles, each with one word or phrase. Your aim is to select a set of four tiles that share a commonality. Often, they are all the same type of thing (e.g., RAIN, SLEET, HAIL, and SNOW are all kinds of wet weather), but sometimes, wordplay is involved (e.g., BUCKET, GUEST, TOP TEN, and WISH are all types of lists: a bucket list, a guest list, and so on).

Select four items and hit the Submit button. If your choice matches the theme, the category and color will be revealed. (Yellow signifies the easiest category, followed by green, then blue, and finally, purple.) If your guess is incorrect, you'll have an opportunity to try again.

You win when you've correctly identified all four groups. However, if you make four mistakes before completion, the game concludes, and the answers are revealed.

Understanding how to triumph in Connections involves comprehending that the categorizations can be deceptively complex. Prepare yourself for intersecting groups. As an illustration, a challenge appeared to comprise six breakfast items: BACON, EGG, PANCAKE, OMELET, WAFFLE, and CEREAL. However, BACON was associated with a group of artists, which included CLOSE, MUNCH, and WHISTLER, and EGG was connected to a group of things supplied in pluralities (alongside JUROR, ROSE, and MONTH). Therefore, postpone pressing "submit" until you've confirmed that your chosen four consist solely of those four items.

When you're at a loss, consider focusing on words that seem unrelated to the others. For instance, when you encounter WHISTLER, the only concept that may come to mind is the renowned painting titled "Whistler's Mother." You might be on the right track in such a situation. When I tackled this particular puzzle, I needed to search online to see if there was a painter named Close, as Close didn't fit any apparent themes.

Another approach to triumph when you're feeling stumped is simply to review some constructive tips – which is why we share these insights every day. Revisit tomorrow for the next puzzle!
