Comedy - Til Schweiger: "I can look in the mirror in the morning"
Actor Til Schweiger has spoken out again following the reappraisal of allegations regarding the set conditions for the "Manta Manta" film.
The 59-year-old told dpa when asked whether the timing of his new comedy "Das Beste kommt noch!" was now overshadowed by the allegations made at the time: "For me personally, the film is not overshadowed by this. Above all, I'm happy that it's finally coming to the cinema." The comedy, which is about two best friends and a fatal illness, was shot before "Manta Manta - Part Two". The new comedy will be released in German cinemas on Thursday.
Schweiger went on to tell dpa: "I'm at peace with myself and I can look in the mirror in the morning, despite the mistakes I've made and for which I've taken responsibility. Not everyone does that either."
The 59-year-old, who is one of the best-known actors and directors in Germany, added: "I have often asked myself how these people can look in the mirror. There's not really much left of the accusations made in Der Spiegel against the production and against me in particular, which is why, as always, I'm actually only looking forward."
Schweiger is accused of this
In spring, Der Spiegel reported on alleged harassment and a "climate of fear" on the "Manta" film set. The production company Constantin Film initiated an investigation, and an external law firm presented mixed results. Schweiger then spoke at length in an interview with "Stern" in October. Among other things, he said: "I don't want anyone to be afraid of me." He also spoke about his alcohol problems and explained that he was in therapy.
