Household - Tiefensee: Investment grants for industry available again

State grants amounting to around 35 million euros can still be approved for the economy in Thuringia in 2023 after the federal budget freeze is lifted. "The lifting comes late, but just in time," explained Economics Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee (SPD) in Erfurt on Friday. It concerns the program to improve the regional economic structure (GRW), which is financed equally by the federal and state governments.

According to the Ministry, it is estimated that more than 200 million euros were affected by the previous freeze nationwide. The funding is intended for investment projects by companies and for business-related infrastructure projects such as industrial estates.

"Thuringia will also make full use of all GRW funding this year," announced Tiefensee. A total of 120 million euros would have been available. Until the federal budget freeze at the end of November, the Free State had committed to projects worth 85 million euros. Applications ready for approval had been submitted to the Thüringer Aufbaubank for the remaining 35 million euros.

These include eight infrastructure projects worth around 25 million euros. These include the development of the Sonneberg-Süd industrial area with a grant volume of eight million euros and the restoration of the "Auf dem Sauborn" industrial site in Marth in Eichsfeld.
