- Ticket prices at Wacken Open Air stable
Organizers of the Heavy Metal Festival in Schleswig-Holstein's Wacken keep ticket prices steady at 333 euros for 2025. However, visitors will now have to pay an extra 33 euros per vehicle, with larger vehicles like campers over 3.5 tons incurring a 66 euro fee. "The more people in the car, the cheaper," said festival chief Thomas Jensen, adding that this also benefits the environment. Those arriving by bus, train, or bike won't face any extra charges.
This year, fans who wanted to utilize the additional travel day on Sunday had to pay an extra 66 euros. From Monday onwards, travel to the four-day festival, which started on Wednesday, was free.
Calm Operations
Organizers, police, and emergency services reported a positive outcome just hours before the end of the Wacken Open Air (W:O:A). The emergency services reported around 3,500 incidents, from insect bites to hospital transportation. "That's a normal number," said emergency services chief Volker Böhm. Around 200 visitors were taken to hospital.
The head of Itzehoe Police Directorate, Frank Matthiesen, praised the new travel concept with different routes and the additional travel day. "There was no Wacken feeling on the roads due to no more traffic jams." The new police presence concept also proved successful. More metalheads, as fans are known, sought contact with the police.
The festival was sold out with 85,000 visitors. The 34th festival will take place from July 30 to August 2, 2025.
