Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) has handed over a frigate to the Egyptian Navy in Bremerhaven. The "AL-QADEER" is the third of four frigates for Egypt, as the company announced. Egyptian and German naval representatives took part in the ceremony.
"Just six months after the handover of the second frigate "Al-QAHHAR", another state-of-the-art ship has been successfully delivered to the Egyptian Navy today," said Oliver Burkhard, CEO of TKMS. The "Al-QADEER" is due to depart for Alexandria in Egypt in a few days. Vice Admiral Ashraf Ibrahim Atwa, Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Navy, emphasized that the Egyptian Navy had received the three frigates "AL-AZIZ", "AL-QAHHAR" and "AL-QADEER" within just 14 months. "These repeated occasions are proof of the good cooperation and friendship between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Federal Republic of Germany."
