Handball - THW Kiel brings back national keeper Andreas Wolff
Handball record champions THW Kiel have signed German national goalkeeper Andreas Wolff. The Bundesligist announced that the 33-year-old has signed a four-year contract until June 30, 2028. Wolff comes from Polish top club Industria Kielce, for whom he was already active from 2016 to 2019.
Rumors of Wolff's return had been circulating for a while. When the NDR reported the transfer in the previous week as already settled, THW's commercial manager Viktor Szilagyi called it a "current false report". Now, the 45-year-old Austrian admitted that bringing the transfer under one roof was "no easy feat": "Everyone in the handball world knows what qualities Andreas has."
With the German national team, Wolff won the European Championship in 2016 and the bronze medal at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. About his return to the Baltic Sea, the world-class goalkeeper said: "I am thrilled about my return to Kiel. This is my home, and I want to challenge the best teams in the world week for week."
At THW, where the team finished a disappointing fourth place in the Bundesliga last season, there are currently two other goalkeepers under contract: the Czech Tomas Mrkva and the French Samir Bellahcene. For the 2025/26 season, Spanish national goalkeeper Gonzalo Perez de Vargas is set to join THW from FC Barcelona.
