The handball squad of THW Kiel heads to their northern foes HSV Hamburg for the second round of the DHB Cup. This pairing was arranged by ping-pong prodigy Timo Boll before the Supercup clash between title holders SC Magdeburg and Füchse Berlin in Düsseldorf. According to THW's chief executive Viktor Szilagyi, "The greatest advantage of this matchup is the convenient travel for us and our supporters." He admitted, "There's no denying, it's a formidable test in the second round sportswise."

Lower-league VfL Lübeck-Schwartau welcomes Bundesliga juggernaut TSV Hannover-Burgdorf as well. Third-division HC Empor Rostock will lock horns with HSG Nordhorn-Lingen from the second flight. These matches are set to unfold from October 1st to 3rd, although the precise dates remain unannounced.

As the third-ranked team from the previous season, SG Flensburg-Handewitt advances directly to the quarter-finals, as do defending champions SC Magdeburg and runners-up MT Melsungen. Ultimately, every club aims to make it to the Final Four, scheduled for April 12th and 13th, 2025, in Cologne.

The handball teams from SG Flensburg-Handewitt and SC Magdeburg, both having secured their spots in the quarter-finals, will undoubtedly be focusing on the Final Four. Meanwhile, the Supercup winners from the previous season, likely Füchse Berlin, will be looking to defend their title in the upcoming Supercup event.
