Due to the ongoing flood crisis in Bavaria, aid workers from Thuringia are currently being dispatched to the affected area. Early on Monday, two water rescue vehicles departed for Gunzburg, as confirmed by the Thuringian Interior Ministry in Erfurt. The main focus there is on supplying residents who are stranded due to the excessive water. Approximately 60 emergency personnel with 16 vehicles have been dispatched, among which are six rescuing boats. Bavaria requested support from all federal states on Sunday evening, according to the Thuringian Ministry.
"We must act fast in sending aid to the affected regions," said Thuringian Interior Minister, Georg Maier (SPD). In Bavaria, a woman and a firefighter have tragically lost their lives to the floods, with one more rescuer still missing in Gunzburg's district. "This highlights the inherent dangers of these missions and the daily risks faced by first responders and emergency personnel," Maier underscored.
