Thüringer HC celebrates thunderous win against Buxtehude
The women's handball team of Thüringer HC has extended its winning streak in the German league. In the last game before the World Cup break, the team of Head Coach Herbert Müller ran out comfortable 38:23 (18:7) winners against Buxtehuder SV on Saturday evening to celebrate its fourth successive victory. In front of a crowd of 1,447, circle runner Vilma Matthijs Holmberg was the best scorer for THC, which is in third place with 12:4 points.
The Thuringians laid the foundation for their sixth win of the season in the first half. With their aggressive and agile defense, they posed immense problems for the visitors, who only managed to score three goals in the first 14 minutes. When the THC also got rolling in offense midway through the first half, the lead grew steadily. The hosts, who played very variably, increased their lead from 8:5 (17th minute) to 14:6 (22nd minute) in the space of just under five minutes.
The THC's intensity in defense dropped significantly in the second half. However, the home side found good solutions in attack at all times, with its play from the circle in particular leading to reliable success. As a result, the Thuringians extended their lead to the end.
Thüringer HC's women's handball team, currently in third place in the Bundesliga, will continue their THC journey in the second half of the season after their impressive win against Buxtehude. Despite a drop in defense intensity in the second half, their effective circle play ensured they maintained their lead, further highlighting their potential as a strong contender in women's handball Bundesliga.
