Storm - Thunderstorms are less severe
The weather in Baden-Württemberg during the EM-Game between Germany and Denmark turned out to be less severe than anticipated. The German Weather Service had warned of hurricane-force winds, hail, heavy rain, and even possible tornados, particularly in the western regions.
Despite the heavy rainfall, there were no major damages reported in Baden-Württemberg during the night. Nearly no thunderstorms occurred, according to the police departments when asked. A police spokesperson in Offenburg stated, "we made it through without any thunderstorms, just light rain." A police spokeswoman in Heilbronn said, "we were lucky."
The German Weather Service (DWD) had continued to issue warnings for thunderstorms throughout the night. In western Baden-Württemberg, storm and hurricane-force winds with wind speeds up to 120 kilometers per hour and heavy rain were not ruled out.
At least two cities in Baden-Württemberg cancelled their public viewings for the Football-European Championship due to the weather warnings, in Freudenstadt in the western part of the state and in Bad-Säckingen in the Waldshut-Tiengen district.
According to DWD forecasts, the night to Monday will remain cloudy and intermittently rainy. The forecast for the start of the week is similar: According to DWD information, rain and showers, occasionally thunderstorms are possible. The highest temperatures will range between 17 and 22 degrees.
