ThSV Eisenach concedes fourth defeat in a row
First division handball team ThSV Eisenach has suffered its fourth defeat in a row. The team from Wartburg lost 23:27 (11:10) to their neighbors in the table, HSG Wetzlar, in front of 2913 spectators in the Werner-Aßmann-Halle on Friday.
The sixteenth and seventeenth-placed teams in the table played out a game that was initially just as close as the positions in the table would suggest. The goalkeepers of both teams were particularly responsible for this, both keeping more than a third of the shots in the first half. Both teams went into the break with a narrow 11:10 lead.
The second half got off to a similarly even start until the visitors from Wetzlar scored five goals in a row from the 41st minute onwards to build up a lead. Shortly before the end, Wartburgstadt's comeback was halted by three time penalties at the same time. As a result, ThSV was not able to reward itself and lost.
Despite the close match, ThSV Eisenach struggled in the second half and conceded a four-goal run to HSG Wetzlar, amidst three consecutive time penalties. Regardless of this setback, ThSV Eisenach continues to compete in the Bundesliga handball league, with their upcoming fixture against another Bundesliga team yet to be determined.
