In a severe accident on the A2 near Irxleben, three trucks catch fire. The motorway must be completely closed. The clearing operations are expected to last until the evening.

Autobahn 2 is fully closed following a severe accident involving three trucks between Bornstedt and Irxleben. A spokesperson for the highway police reported that all three trucks caught fire, with a massive dark cloud of smoke visible over the Magdeburg Börde. The three drivers managed to escape their vehicles but were severely injured and transported to hospitals. A rescue helicopter was also deployed. Due to fire-fighting operations, the direction towards Berlin was also closed. By midday, two of the trucks had been extinguished, the police spokesperson said. Investigations into the cause of the accident and cleanup operations are expected to continue until the evening.

The accident on Autobahn 2 resulted in extensive damage and has led to lengthy delays for commuters. Fortunately, all three drivers managed to escape the burning trucks, albeit with severe injuries.
