Bad Frankenhausen - Three seriously injured motorcyclists on the Kyffhäuser route
Three motorcycle riders were severely injured in accidents on the winding road to the Kyffhäuserdenkmal in Nordthüringen. Two of them collided on this section of Bundesstraße 85 on Saturday after a curve and both were severely injured, as the police reported on Sunday. One of the bikers had to be flown to the hospital by a rescue helicopter. The B85 was closed for recovery work in this area for several hours. The stretch is popular among motorcycle riders due to its scenic beauty and tight curves.
After the closure, another serious motorcycle accident occurred at the approach to the Kyffhäuserdenkmal. According to the police, a biker lost control of his vehicle in a left curve likely due to excessive speed. The rider sustained severe injuries in the fall and was taken to the hospital.
Despite the weekend's traffic congestion, many motorcyclists still chose to ride on the B85, attracted by its scenic beauty and challenging curves. Regrettably, this attraction led to another accident near the Kyffhäuserdenkmal, adding to the series of unfortunate incidents. The motorcyclist who lost control in the left curve was rushed to the hospital, joining the other injured riders from the weekend's accidents.
