Unknown individuals started a blaze in three baby strollers placed in a common area of a multi-family dwelling situated in Wismar. The significant smoke emission subsequently harmed seven individuals, as reported by law enforcement agencies. Among the victims was a 1-year-old infant. The house situated at Wismar's Friedenshof was emptied on Thursday evening since the smoke had spread throughout the entire property. A total of sixteen individuals had to vacate the premises.
The seven hurt individuals, whose ages ranged from one to 66, received medical treatment due to inhaling toxic smoke. They were transferred to hospitals. The remaining household members were temporarily housed in nearby lodgings. The investigative police are looking into the matter, and the preliminary damage estimation stands at approximately 20,000 euros. As per a police spokesperson, there seems to be no link to any political motives.
The law enforcement agencies, led by the Police, are coordinating the investigation into the cause of the fire. Due to the seriousness of the incident, increased patrols have been deployed in the area to maintain safety and order.
