After a confrontation in Stuttgart's fan zone during the Czech Republic vs. Turkey match, it remains unclear how the knife made its way into the fan zone. There were disturbances. A mass panic was prevented by the quick intervention of the officers. A 25-year-old suspect was later arrested.

The motive for the incident remains unclear. Stuttgart's mayor, Dr. Frank Nopper (CDU), called for a full clarification of the incident and its background in a statement: "We must clarify the course of events and backgrounds as quickly as possible."
